Patients often arrive focused entirely on fat. In practice, the quality of a contouring result is decided as much by what the skin does afterwards as by how much fat comes out, and that is the gap NeoLift is designed to close.
Why skin matters as much as fat
When a fat layer is reduced, the skin above it has to retract over a smaller volume. Younger, elastic skin usually manages this on its own. Skin that has been stretched by weight change, pregnancy or time may not, and the result can look softer or looser than the underlying contour deserves.
This is why we assess skin quality at consultation rather than treating every patient with the same plan. Pinch tests, history of weight fluctuation and the area being treated all feed into the decision.
How NeoLift works
NeoLift delivers controlled energy beneath the skin through a fine fibre, applied under local anaesthetic through the same tiny access points used for VASER. The energy stimulates the collagen network in the deeper layers, encouraging the skin to contract and remodel over the following months.
- Performed awake, under local anaesthetic, usually alongside VASER in the same visit.
- Access points are millimetres wide and typically need no stitches.
- Tightening continues gradually as collagen remodels, most visibly between weeks 6 and 16.
Who benefits most
The clearest candidates are patients with moderate laxity: enough looseness that skin retraction is in doubt, but not so much that a surgical excision would be the honest recommendation. Common areas are the lower abdomen, upper arms, inner thighs, neck and jawline.
If skin laxity is severe, we will say so. Energy-based tightening has limits, and promising more than it can deliver helps nobody.
Recovery and results
Recovery mirrors VASER: same-day discharge, compression for the recommended period, and most patients back to desk work within a few days. Swelling settles first, tightening arrives later, so the final judgement on a NeoLift result belongs at around three to six months rather than three weeks.
