§ Preparation

How to prepare for VASER lipo: the fortnight before your procedure

A practical checklist for the two weeks before treatment: what to stop, what to arrange, what to buy, and what actually happens on the day you walk in.

VASER is a walk-in, walk-out procedure performed under local anaesthetic, which makes preparation refreshingly simple. It is not complicated, but the small things done in advance are what make the day itself calm.

Two weeks before

Your pre-operative review confirms your plan, your measurements and any tests we need. This is the point to raise anything you have not yet mentioned, including supplements, which are easy to forget and can affect bleeding.

  • Disclose all medications and supplements, especially blood thinners, fish oil and high-dose vitamin E.
  • Stop smoking and vaping if you can: nicotine restricts blood flow and slows healing.
  • Keep alcohol low, and avoid it entirely in the 48 hours before treatment.
  • Keep your weight stable rather than crash dieting, which does not improve the result.

The week before

Order your compression garment if we have not supplied it, and buy loose, dark, front-fastening clothing for the journey home. Stock the kitchen so you are not shopping on day one, and arrange for someone to drive you home even though you will be walking out unaided.

  • Compression garment ready and the correct size.
  • Loose dark clothing and old bed sheets or towels for the first night or two.
  • Simple meals prepared, plus paracetamol as advised.
  • Time booked off: most patients plan two to five days away from desk work.

The day itself

Eat a light meal, shower with plain soap, skip creams, oils and makeup on the treatment area, and leave jewellery at home. Markings are drawn while you are standing, you are awake throughout, and the atmosphere is closer to a long appointment than an operation.

You are discharged the same day. Walking gently that evening is encouraged; it helps circulation and reduces stiffness.

What to ask before you commit

Who is performing the procedure, how many areas are included, what the total cost covers, which follow-ups are included, and what the plan is if you need a touch-up. Any clinic worth using will answer all five without hesitation.
