Arm liposuction: what it can and cannot do for bingo wings

Upper arm fullness is part fat and part skin. Treating only one side of it is the most common reason arm results disappoint.

The upper arm is one of the areas where the fat is the easy part. Whether the result looks sleek or merely smaller usually comes down to what the skin does afterwards.

Why triceps work does not fix it

Strengthening the triceps changes what is beneath the fat, not the fat itself, and the body does not release fat from a region because you exercise it. Where the fullness is accompanied by skin that sways when the arm is raised, muscle tone cannot address that at all.

When liposuction alone is enough

If the skin has good elasticity, typically in younger patients or those who have not had large weight fluctuations, removing the fat precisely allows the skin to retract over the new contour on its own. This is the simplest version of the treatment and the most predictable.

When skin tightening is part of the plan

Where skin has been stretched, reducing volume without tightening can leave the arm looking looser than before. In those cases we combine VASER with NeoLift in the same visit, so the fat is reduced and the skin envelope is treated together. Your clinician assesses this at consultation with a pinch test and your weight history.

  • Both performed awake, under local anaesthetic, in one visit.
  • Compression sleeves worn as directed.
  • Desk work usually resumed within two to five days.
  • Skin tightening develops over three to six months, not immediately.
